Galileo in Venice

1609, Venice. The famous Pisan mathematician Galileo Galilei, who taught at the University of Padua, presented his extraordinary invention to the Venetian government: the telescope! With a small group of noblemen, he climbed the bell tower of St. Mark's to test it publicly: an event that would change history, both his and ours!
This guided tour explores the Doge's Palace, while learning of Galileo's biography and the beliefs of his time. At the end of the tour, you'll climb the bell tower to admire the view of the city from above, just as Galileo did.

The tour includes: the Doge's Palace (Institutional Rooms) with the Bridge of Sighs and the New Prisons. The bell tower of St. Mark's.

What kids will enjoy: researching the myths and ancient gods linked to astronomy, discussing stars and planets, imagining Galileo at the Doge's Palace, peering through prison bars, and admiring Venice from above!
